第二，国外生活和学习提供给我一个不同的世界观。在大学校园里，外国学生很可能遭遇来自不同国家和地区的同行和接触到不同的思想和价值观。这让我有一个有意义的理解不同的社会中，不可避免地看见我自己的国家，在一个新的光。

我是刚毕业那年办的出国留学。由于我出国前一直在校园，没为国家服务过一天，所以，我要赔偿国家一笔数目不小的培养费。为了集资，我把爸妈的积蓄都快用光了。我深知钱来之不易。那时，我不仅不敢多花钱，更怕钱被贼偷去。
记得我飞越太平洋时，身上带了1000美元现金。因为我怕把这笔“大钱”弄丢，我把钱藏到了袜子里还是鞋里，哈哈，现在记不清了。反正是左边藏500，右边藏500。上了飞机以后我才知道，同行的旅客谁都比我有钱，只有我东张西望的看上去像小偷。
下了飞机，我到学校找导师。七问八问，我终于找到了那座教学楼。因为导师在5楼办公，我得乘电梯上去找他。
一按电梯开关，马上来的是一辆空电梯，里面并没有开电梯的伙计。我把这架电梯端详了半天，也没敢上去。因为，那时在国内乘的电梯，都是有人驾驶的。我怕，我要是上了这个无人驾驶的电梯，会经历电影里常看过的恐怖事件。哈，傻呀！
安顿好住处以后，每天，我上学要经过一个“body shop”。那时俺刚出国，英文还是英译汉阶段。我哪里知道“body shop”是个修车铺，我还以为是专门拉女同胞下水的火坑呢。所以，每次我经过那里，都要快速疾行。
我在美国的第一位室友是一位北师大女孩芳芳。出国前，芳芳姑娘也是赔了一大笔培养费。所以，到了美国后，她和我一样节约，有时候，比我还甚。
第一个冬天，我们公寓的室温经常被她控制在50-55华氏之间。那时，我们经常穿着丫丫牌羽绒棉袄做饭。

几个月后，我们刚刚舍得花点儿小钱了，有一天，我们溜进了一家快餐店。因为，我们以前从没点过美国饭，只有salad听上去耳熟。于是，我就要了一盘salad。不知是英文不好，还是我太节约了，美国阿姨问我要往salad里加些什么。我的回答一概是：no。最后，我看到的是一盘兔子吃的青菜。不仅没味道，我们也没吃饱。只好再回家煮面吃去。
后来，我曾和一对韩国夫妻做过室友。这两口子，婚了多年，也没孩子。韩国太太经常和我唠叨此事，还和我谈起过人工受精的事。
有一天，太太去教堂作义工，他先生留守在家。当时，我正在自己的房间里看书。他上来敲门：“我能向你借个egg吗？”

as far as i am concerned, the former opinion holds more weight. for one thing, it can strengthen the learners' abilities to understand and communicate with people from other cultures. for another, the developed countries still have a lot advanced knowledge we need to study. when all the factors are examined, we may reasonably come to the conclusion that studying abroad is advisable.
